New players who have never participated in a Hockey Canada-sanctioned program must create an HCR profile BEFORE completing registration.
If your child is new to hockey, please follow these steps:
Create a Spordle Account (see instructions)
Create an HCR Profile for your child
Proceed with registration
Complete the Shift Forward - Parent certification, using your child’s HCR number
• Or link your existing certification to their HCR profile
CMHA understands that circumstances may change after registration. Read through CMHA’s Refund Policy page on the website to learn more about eligibility, timelines, and how to submit a refund request.
Families registering more than one player will receive a $100 discount for each additional child. To apply the discount, enter the promo code SUBCHILD at checkout for every player beyond the first (the first child is not eligible for the discount).
Continuing this season, CMHA requires participation in the Volunteer Bond program. Participation is required for registration and to remain in good standing with the Association.
All families are asked to review the Volunteer Page on our website, including the policy and FAQ document, before registering.
Please note: Minor adjustments to the Volunteer Bond Program may be made ahead of the upcoming season. No major changes are expected.

Respect in Sport (RIS) & Shift Forward - Parent Program
The Shift Forward Course is replacing Respect in Sport for the 2026-2027 season. If you have a current non-expired Respect in Sport - Parent Certificate it is valid for the remainder of it's term (4 years). If you are new to hockey or have an expired certificate you will be required to take the new Shift Forward course.
See below for more details:
Legal Land Description
A player’s legal address must be included as part of the registration process.
In Alberta, a legal land description is a standardized code used to identify and locate rural properties. It’s based on the Alberta Township Survey system, which divides the province into a grid of land parcels. This system allows for accurate identification of property boundaries and is essential for verifying player eligibility, residency, and association alignment.
Providing accurate address information ensures that each player is registered within the proper minor hockey boundaries and complies with Hockey Alberta regulations.
A typical Alberta legal land description might look like this:
NW-22-51-26-W4
This refers to the Northwest quarter of Section 22, Township 51, Range 26, West of the 4th Meridian.
AA/AAA Tryouts
If your player is trying out for AA or AAA this fall, please review the latest updates on our AA/AAA Tryout Information page.
Waivers & Agreements
CMHA is committed to creating a respectful, safe, and supportive hockey environment. During registration, you will be required to review and acknowledge several important waivers and agreements, including:
Please read each document carefully to ensure you, and your child, understand your responsibilities and commitments as part of the CMHA community.
