Elite Hockey Information (2026-2027 Season)

Permission forms are NOT required if you are registering for AA or AAA within your designated Elite Draw Zone.

Canmore Minor Hockey Association does not host elite teams at the AAA or AA level. If your player is interested in trying out for an elite team, please review the information below carefully. Elite teams are hosted by different associations depending on the division and level, and they require a greater commitment than traditional minor hockey programs in terms of time, travel, performance expectations, and cost.

AAA Programs

League: Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL)

Typical Schedule:

• 3 practices per week
• 2-3 games per weekend
• ~34 regular season games, plus playoffs and tournaments

Season Timeline:

• League play: September to March
• Playoffs: March

Commitment Level:
This level requires the highest commitment in time, travel, performance, and financial investment.

U18 AAA (Airdrie)

Canmore Minor Hockey Association players fall within the Airdrie Elite Draw Zone for U18 AAA. Airdrie hosts the U18 AAA CFR Chemicals Bisons.

U13 - U17 AAA (Cochrane)

Canmore Minor Hockey Association players fall within the Cochrane Elite Draw Zone for U13 - U17AAA, offering the AAA Timberwolves program

Elite Female Hockey

There are AA teams for female players from U13 - U18, hosted in either Cochrane or Airdrie, depending on the division. AAA for females is offered at the U18 level only with open boundaries (no draw zones)
