Hockey Canada has introduced the “Shift Forward” Program for the 2026-2027 season, this is replacing the Respect in Sport Program. The Shift Forward will cover a variety of topics focused on shifting hockey’s culture forward. The modules within the program will cover the following themes: hockey culture, being an active bystander, how to have crucial conversations, autonomy, individual rights, grooming and consent.
Any current Respect in Sport certificates will remain valid until their expiry date.
If you are new to hockey or have an expired Respect in Sport Certificate you will need to take the Shift Forward Course.

The Shift Forward Coach Program educates coaches and team staff on how to recognize, understand, and respond to bullying, abuse, harassment, and discrimination. It plays a vital role in ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all participants
